Copperas Cove ISD Bond 2025

COPPERAS COVE – Greatly needed facility updates are officially coming to Copperas Cove students.

Friday, during a special meeting of the CCISD Board of Trustees, trustees canvassed the results of the district’s bond and trustee elections on Nov. 4th. This canvass certifies the results and allows the board to work alongside district administration in implementing the approved updates.

In the bond election, the certified results are:

Proposition A - $142.3 million

·      For: 2,885

·      Against: 2,090

Proposition B - $12.2 million

·      For: 2,499

·      Against: 2,474

Proposition C - $11.2 million

·      For: 2,222

·      Against: 2,738

“These results show that our community is wanting to reset a standard for educational facilities in their community schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “We appreciate the faith that the district’s taxpayers have placed in us as a district to use these bond funds responsibly. We will work diligently to remain transparent in our process to implement the approved updates to ensure every student in Copperas Cove has access to a modern education.”

Updates on the implementation of Bond 2025 will continue to be posted at www.CCISDBond.com.

The certified trustee results mean Samantha Wilson will be sworn into the seat on Place 3 vacated by Mike Wilburn’s retirement from the board. Place 4 incumbent Joan Manning will remain in her seat and Heather Copeland was re-elected to her seat on Place 5.

“I look forward to continuing to work in lockstep with our trustees, each of whom are dedicated to improving the opportunities available to students across our district,” Dr. Hawkins said. “Together, with the board, we will continue our work to ensure CCISD graduates are prepared for exceptional opportunities in their lives beyond high school.”

These three trustees will be sworn into their seats for three-year terms at the board’s next workshop.

The Board of Trustees will next hold its regular November workshop on Nov. 17th and its regular November meeting on Nov. 18th. Both meetings will begin at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at the CCISD Service & Training Center located on South Main Street.

Agendas for each meeting are posted three business day prior to the meeting outside the District Service & Training Center on South Main Street. Once posted, they can be viewed online at www.CCISD.com/SchoolBoard.
