COPPERAS COVE – Three-year-old Pre-K is returning to Bulldawg country.
Wednesday, Copperas Cove ISD announced it will expand its Pre-K program to now include 3-year-old students in the 2026-27 school year.
“We know there is a need for families in and near our community to begin the educational journey,” said Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “At the end of the day, our schools serve the community we live in and we know that this is an opportunity to provide a greater value to our community at no cost to families.”
Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy, home to CCISD’s current 4-year-old Pre-K program, will also be home to the new expansion. Mae Stevens utilizes a research-driven, play-based curriculum to help students develop motor skills, as well as in literacy, math and STEM.
In addition, CCISD’s curriculum used at Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy also helps students develop independence and conflict resolution skills in a safe, nurturing environment.
Currently, more than 82% of teachers at the campus hold active Teacher Incentive Allotment designations, placing them among the highest-performing teachers in the state.
“We have exceptional educators across the district and the data proves that Mae Stevens is no different,” Dr. Hawkins said. “These incredible educators work tirelessly to make sure every Bulldawg who comes through their classrooms has the head start they deserve and builds a solid foundation to prepare them for their school journey.”
CCISD is currently accepting applications for new transfer students, including for Pre-K students while space is available. To qualify for Pre-K, students need to be 3 or 4 years old on or before Sept. 1st of the school year they are enrolling in and meet one of the following requirements:

CCISD offers out-of-district transfers at no cost to families.
